SineSemi's SMP4002ALPWQ, a 40V automotive-grade P-channel SGT (PSGT) MOSFET, has completed its production ramp at a leading Chinese automotive-lighting customer and secured volume orders. With on-resistance in the 2 mΩ class, the part is being adopted in headlamp power circuits as a domestic alternative to the equivalent overseas device. Backed by power-wafer fab UNT, SineSemi's full PSGT line from 40 V to 250 V is now in mass production.

Built on an optimized SGT structure, SMP4002ALPWQ reaches a typical on-resistance of 1.9 mΩ at VGS = -10 V under its -40 V rating, and still holds 3.3 mΩ with the gate driven at only -4.5 V. The gate accepts TTL and CMOS logic levels, so an MCU I/O pin can drive it. The trade-off between on-resistance and total gate charge has been tuned to a figure of merit (RDS(ON) × Qg) of about 152 mΩ·nC, bringing conduction and switching losses down together.

The package pairs wettable flanks with fused source leads, lifting current-carrying capability and thermal performance by about 20% and allowing 100% automated optical inspection; the long-lead design strengthens solder joints against the vibration, temperature-cycling and lifetime demands of long-running automotive electronics.

In the typical application diagram, SMP4002ALPWQ sits at the 7–18 V battery input as the reverse-battery protection switch, ahead of a boost stage and multiple buck LED drivers. Beyond LED lighting, the target applications listed for the device include on-board power management, body-domain-controller power protection and reverse-connection protection in motor drives. The part is RoHS compliant and carries automotive-grade reliability qualification.
